Entertainment

Most people visit Taniti to enjoy the beaches, explore the rainforest, and visit the volcano. However, there are many other activities to enjoy:

• Local history museum
• Chartered fishing tours
• Snorkeling and zip-lining in the rainforest
• Microbrewery and pubs
• Dancing at a new dance club or visiting an arcade
• Helicopter rides, art galleries, and bowling
• A nine-hole golf course (opening next year)

Many of these activities are located in Merriton Landing, a rapidly developing area on the north side of Yellow Leaf Bay.

Sightseeing

Most tourists spend their time in Taniti City, which features native architecture and white sandy beaches encircling Yellow Leaf Bay. Other popular sightseeing activities include:

• Boat or bus tours of the island
• Hikes in the rainforest
• Visits to Taniti’s active volcano

Transportation

Almost all visitors arrive in Taniti by air, though some arrive on a small cruise ship that docks in Yellow Leaf Bay once a week. The island is served by a small airport that accommodates small jets and propeller planes. The airport is being expanded to allow larger jets in the future.

Ground Transportation:

• Public buses serve Taniti City from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
• Taxis are available in Taniti City.
• Rental cars are available near the airport.
• Bikes and helmets can be rented from several vendors (helmets required by law).
• Merriton Landing and Taniti City are walkable areas perfect for exploring on foot.
